Sarah Symonds Following my Gordon Ramsay Fansite on Twitter

While doing some internet marketing for The Plonker Club – The Unofficial Gordon Ramsay Fansite, I’ve been using a Twitter tool with which I type in a keyword and it finds people who have that same word associated with their account. Imagine my surprise when I wake up this morning to find the program had not only signed me up to a Sarah Symonds Twitter feed, but this person had consequently signed up to follow the Plonker Club Twitter feed (which can be found at http://twitter.com/ThePlonkerClub). I checked and it contained a photo of THE Sarah Symonds and some of her tweets suggest that it is really her (tweets about upcoming interviews, a link to her website etc).

For people living under a rock, Sarah Symonds is the woman who claimed to be having an affair with Gordon Ramsay last year and has spent all of her time since, trying to stay on Gordon’s coat-tails and ride the publicity train until the end (and the media has done a great job of indulging her – even interviewing her from Australia regarding the ridiculous Tracy Grimshaw “he called me a lesbian – oops he didn’t” pig affair!).

To top it off, I also got a personal message to go with the notice of joining the feed – it said “LOVE this site – what made you set it up? Plonker is a great name. Signed…the mistress!!”. She didn’t sound as bitter here, as she has in some of the interviews I’ve seen since the ‘revelations’!

Anyway, to cut a long story short, like any true Gordon Ramsay fan I have not only unfollowed her from the Plonker Club Twitter Feed, but also blocked her from receiving updates – gotta stay loyal to the team!

It was a brush with (wanna-be) fame but doesn’t rate with actually meeting Gordon Ramsay last weekend in Sydney (more of that to come shortly).

Stay tuned

The Price of Being Gordon Ramsay!

Author: Gordon Ramsay Unofficial Fansite  //  Category: gordon ramsay interviews, gordon ramsay news

The lengths that some people will go to when trying to impress people or appear to trump a celebrity. We all know that Gordon Ramsay is anal when it comes to food quality (that’s how you get three Michelin stars in one location, not mention multiple others!), so here some moron thinks that he can take advantage of the Gordon Ramsay some of us know and love from television, and question the food quality from one of his own restaurants.

I thought I’d seen it all when a female reporter from Channel Seven in Australia chased Gordon into his hotel and tried to instigate something by asking dumb questions (I’m a woman – have you got anything to say to me Gordon? in response to the circus surrounding Tracy Grimshaw). Well this one takes the cake.

Some idiot sits next to an alleged food critic who orders a well-done steak (crap detector goes wild). The alleged food critic is amazingly surpised to find that the meat is tough and rubbery. The claim is that this scene takes place in Gordon Ramsay’s Maze restaurant in London. Then the idiot presenter shows Gordon Ramsay a photo of the steak, in Australia, months later and asks for a comment, thinking he has the great chef cornered.

Gordon politely tells the guy he is a tool and explains why people don’t order well-done meat if they want to actually taste the cut they have ordered.

Well done Gordon – you kept your temper – which is precisely what this knob hoped you wouldn’t do. Amazing reporting moron – you’re a special for A Current Affair or Today Tonight – trashy, set-up reporting, pity it backfired!

Here’s the clip if you could be bothered – I won’t even link to it, then they don’t get the credit – you’ll have to copy and paste yourself.

Gordon Ramsay Interviews from Sydney July 2009

Author: Gordon Ramsay Unofficial Fansite  //  Category: gordon ramsay interviews, Main Content

We could only find two interviews that Gordon Ramsay performed when in Sydney last week for the Good Food and Wine Show – considerably less than a month ago in Melbourne. This is no doubt a direct result of the ridiculous scene caused by Tracy Grimshaw and A Current Affair, here’s hoping that it is just a PR decision and not a reflection of current interest in the great chef.

Both of the interviews were on radio, the first with Merrick, Rosso and Kate on Nova 96.9 and the second was with Kyle and Jackie O for 2Day FM, both very popular Sydney shows.

Both were aired on Friday July 3, the same day that the Good Food and Wine Show started and were no doubt recorded some time between his seven days on Hamilton Island and arrival in Syndey for the food show. Gordon’s wife Tana, would also be signing books at the same show, was present at both interviews and help stitch Gordon up a little when playing Box of Mysteries on the Nova show.

There wasn’t much to the Nova 96.9 interview, but it was still entertaining – it starts from about the eight minute mark at this site http://podcast.nova969.com.au/MRK_Podcast_090703.mp3 .

In the interview, Gordon gave us a great wrap about our world class produce (what else is he going to say when asked about how good we are in Australia?), especially Morton Bay bugs. They discussed Gordon’s fear of jellyfish, snakes and other creepy crawlies and this proceeded his participation in the Box of Mystery. Tana Ramsay was also in attendance and helped play on these fears as he put his hands into a box to win a prize for a listener. Gordon also relayed the often told story of his and Tana’s courtship, how Tana was engaged to Gordon’s best friend – but this time, we also get to hear Tana’s side of the story, which was how hard and how long Gordon has to work to snare her. Chef Ramsay also shared his genuine enthusiasm for the local show, Masterchef and picked Andre as his choice to go all the way!

From interview with 2Day FM starts from five minutes and fifty seconds at http://austereo.castmetrix.net/podcast/378302368699172057/1/TheKyleandJackieOShowThursdayJuly22009.mp3. In this interview Gordon talks about the tossers that come up to return food in Hell’s Kitchen, revealed that the Michelin guide may be coming to Australia and re-iterated how he is a fan of Masterchef, but not the judges! Gordon Ramsay also clarifies his position on female chefs (or maybe backtracks a little from infamous comments made some years ago). The hosts also played a clip with Dr Phil commenting on what he thought of Gordon Ramsay and the Michelin starred chef’s response was probably more polite that many would have expected!

Gordon also has his now standard digs at Jamie Oliver – calling him a one-pot wonder and to my surprise directly answered questions on the ridiculous Tracy Grimshaw affair.

Both shows took the piss out of Gordon, plenty of Tracy Grimshaw digs and lesbian jokes, with Ramsay holding back a little more than he normally would, understandably though.

Both still worth a listen – enjoy!

Sixteen Things That You Didn’t Know About Gordon Ramsay

Author: Gordon Ramsay Unofficial Fansite  //  Category: gordon ramsay interviews, Main Content

I thought I would put together some of the interesting things that we learned about Gordon Ramsay, from the interviews that he conducted while in Australia last month (the interviews can be viewed via this post) – I’m sure people will have a bunch of other comments relating to the hissy fit Tracy Grimshaw had and the complete over-reaction of the AUssie and world media!

1. Gordon Ramsay Holdings was advised to enter administration at the end of 2008 as a result of the global financial crisis and local laws worldwide that restricted working hours, conditions and pay at various sites through out his global empire. Gordon decided for the benefit of his providers, he wouldn’t take the easy way out and consolidated the business, contributing millions of his personal fortune to steady the ship.

2. It was reported that Gordon Ramsay had to sell his Ferrari to pay some of the bills, he admitted that this was correct but his new one was coming in the next month!

3. Gordon Ramsay, on the back of his marathon running (completed his tenth London Marathon earlier this year) will be attempting his first triathalon some time this year.

4. Gordon has taken up surfing, after watching all four of his children and wife, stand up on their boards within fifteen minutes of first trying. Gordon also got some surfing in while in Melbourne (and no doubt afterwards in Queensland) – one tabloid suggetsed that it was merely to appease the angry locals! Gordon described surfing as part of his new fitness regime – he says it’s addictive and great fun!

5. Chef Ramsay considers that one of the positives of the global recessions is that the focus in restaurants is now back on the customers. He suggests that chefs were getting a little too full of themselves and were dictating too much to their patrons. Gordon added that the crisis is removing a level of snobbery and returning to (all join in) rustic, local cooking.

5b. Tanya Ramsay was scheduled to be in Australia in June performing her own book signings and cooking displays, independant of her husband (although the broken wrist from falling while roller blading may have prevented it from actually happening) (I know not really about Gordon Ramsay, so I’ve called it 5b!)

6. Gordon Ramsay prefers pizza over a meat pie, Vegemite over Marmite, Rugby over soccer (saying he wouldn’t have made that choice ten years ago and that now that he is 15 stone in weight he is more like a rugby player), Sydney over Melbourne (but later said he was joking as he was in Melbourne at the time), Cold Play over U2, Sean Connery over Daniel Craig (whom Gordon Ramsay suggested was built like an Asian toddler), Kylie Minogue over Elle MacPherson and finally when asked if he preferred blondes or brunettes – the great chef answered blonde upstairs, brunette downstairs!!!

7. Gordon Ramsay, when asked whether he had become too much celebrity too little chef  responded that his television work funds his restaurant business.

8. Gordon Ramsay said that he doesn’t know a chef that would turn down a quarter of a million dollars per hour to do Hell’s Kitchen (is he suggesting that this is how much he is getting paid??)

9. Gordon Ramsay said that he was uploading staff in Melbourne and Sydney who are acting as spies before he opens his Australian Maze Restaurant, to get insight into the local restaurant community!

10. The new Gordon Ramsay Maze Restaurant in Melbourne will feature the now famous Chef’s Table and he is looking for an apartment in Melbourne as part of his regular and un-announced drop-ins for his overseas empire.

11. Gordon Ramsay’s normal Sunday starts with a two hour run followed by a family lunch where he catches up with all of the things that he may have missed during the week.

12. The entire Ramsay clan may be coming to Australia for a holiday at Christmas.

13. Gordon Ramsay said that he never causes a scene when he goes out to eat and doesn’t ever send food back (maybe he knows what the chefs would do to it??!!)

14. The worst response that Gordon Ramsay’s has received for his criticism was an american chef who threw knife at him during the taping of a show!

15. Gordon Ramsay’s ideal last meal on earth would be a roasted sea bass on bed of crushed potatoes and a lemongrass vinegarette – eaten with his family!

16. Gordon Ramsay’s worst injury in the kitchen (obvious the knife missed its mark!) has been a burnt left bollock in in his own restaurant – Claridges.
