Gordon Ramsay Appearances in Perth Australia Cancelled

Author: Gordon Ramsay Unofficial Fansite  //  Category: Gordon Ramsay in Person, gordon ramsay news, Main Content

Gordon Ramsay was due to appear in Perth, Western Australia for two charity events on June 24 and 25, but the promters, Diablo events have recently announced their cancellation.

Their official statement reads as follows “Diablo Events has exercised its rights of termination under the Celebrity Appearance Agreement between Diablo Events, Gordon Ramsay Holdings and Gordon Ramsay. Consequently, Gordon Ramsay will no longer be appearing in Perth for Diablo Events for either the breakfast function on 24 June 2009 or the Black Tie Dinner on 25 June 2009.

We will be in contact regarding refunds in due course and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

No doubt the Ramsay bashers and trashy media will link this to the ridiculous spectale that was made of Gordon Ramsay’s jokes about Tracey Grimashaw (and not other celebrities who took it better and didn’t have the platform to launch their bitter and mis-informed responses). I’m not sure how these events normally work, but the story in other media related to slow ticket sales – not cancellations.

Possibly it is normal to sell many of the tickets at the last minute and that the bad press removed this option, either way the people of Perth and charities involved are the big losers.

As I type this, Gordon Ramsay is in Queensalnd, helping Sanctuary Cove celebrate their 21st birthday, where he will be joined with his wife Tana. Hopefully we here something positive coming out of this event.

Gordon Ramsay Interview – headline chef at Melbourne Food & Wine Festival

Author: Gordon Ramsay Unofficial Fansite  //  Category: gordon ramsay interviews

Here is another great Gordon Ramsay interview, where he touches on some of the more recent dramas of the past six months, his experiences on hit television shows Hell’s Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares and confirmation of Cookalong Live for the US in December of this year. This interview also gives some insight into what Australian and more specifically Melbourne can expect when he launches his internationally renowned ‘Maze’ restaurant early next year (and on the back of the very successful ‘Maze” launch in South Africa). This will be the fifth ‘Maze’ to be launched and their much doubt as to whether this would go ahead after Gordon ramsay’s own confirmation last week in a Times UK interview that his business was close to folding, which forced the very public sell-off of a number of his overseas ventures.

Gordon Ramsay’s first stop on his nationwide tour is Melbourne for this weeks Good Food and Wine Festival and will be appearing multiple times each day for the three day event – where organisers will be charging a premium to see him (every other chef and cooking demonstration is covered in the admission charge!).

It will be interesting to see if Gordon Ramsay is given the same ‘rock star’ treatment by the Australian public that he received when in Australia last year, considering all of the recent controversy that the last six months have brought him.

Here is the interview from today’s Melbourne’s Herald Sun newspaper, which will no doubt be the first of many interviews with Gordon Ramsay visiting Melbourne, Sanctuary Cove, Perth and Sydney over the next month. Stay tuned for complete coverage of the Gordon Ramsay Tour Down Under!

Gordon Ramsay Arriving in Australia and Confirms Melbourne Restaurant Opening

Author: Gordon Ramsay Unofficial Fansite  //  Category: Gordon Ramsay in Person

Gordon Ramsay arrives in Melbourne Thursday for the start of his extensive Australian culinary tour. In interviews conducted days prior Gordon Ramsay has confirmed that his ‘Maze’ restaurant, will still be opening at the Crown Casino complex next year and he will be checking on progress while completing his duties at the local Good Food and Wine festival this weekend.

Despite Gordon Ramsay’s admission of tough economic times severely hitting his restaurant empire, Gordon Ramsay Holding, and the forced sell-off of several overseas ventures, it seems that Maze will still be going ahead> It will be following Gordon’s Ramsay’s mantra of featuring local produce including Australian Seafood. In extensive interview with the Herald Sun Newspaper Gordon Ramsay was quoted as saying;

“It’s a tremendously exciting project for me where I’ll be among some of the best and most creative chefs in the world – Tetsuya, Matt Moran, Neil Perry and Shannon Bennett. “And bugger me, I’ll be in Melbourne, the food capital of Australia. What a place to open.”

Gordon Ramsay also stated in the same interview;

“Australia is home to some of the most spectacular produce in the world,” and that “seafood is in abundance, which is refreshing in comparison to some of the problems we’re having in the UK.”

The full interview can be seen at Gordon Ramsay opening new restaurant.
