Here is another great Gordon Ramsay interview, where he touches on some of the more recent dramas of the past six months, his experiences on hit television shows Hell’s Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares and confirmation of Cookalong Live for the US in December of this year. This interview also gives some insight into what Australian and more specifically Melbourne can expect when he launches his internationally renowned ‘Maze’ restaurant early next year (and on the back of the very successful ‘Maze” launch in South Africa). This will be the fifth ‘Maze’ to be launched and their much doubt as to whether this would go ahead after Gordon ramsay’s own confirmation last week in a Times UK interview that his business was close to folding, which forced the very public sell-off of a number of his overseas ventures.
Gordon Ramsay’s first stop on his nationwide tour is Melbourne for this weeks Good Food and Wine Festival and will be appearing multiple times each day for the three day event – where organisers will be charging a premium to see him (every other chef and cooking demonstration is covered in the admission charge!).
It will be interesting to see if Gordon Ramsay is given the same ‘rock star’ treatment by the Australian public that he received when in Australia last year, considering all of the recent controversy that the last six months have brought him.
Here is the interview from today’s Melbourne’s Herald Sun newspaper, which will no doubt be the first of many interviews with Gordon Ramsay visiting Melbourne, Sanctuary Cove, Perth and Sydney over the next month. Stay tuned for complete coverage of the Gordon Ramsay Tour Down Under!

I thought I’d try some trashy headline writing – I think I did okay. The news is that one of Gordon Ramsay’s restaurants – J Willy’s, that he tried to save in Kitchen Nightmares USA has closed.
We have been covering the story ever since it became known that the owners were looking for a partner after withdrawing the sale offer. Now as a result of the credit crisis, it seems the owners and there some 40 employees have ridden off into the sunset.
This really was one of the more strange Kitchen Nightmares Episodes – from a long and distinguished list! An episode that played to every southern hillibilly stereotype and had owners who apparently ran other successful restaurants, but couldn’t get this one to work because of a manager.
The only credit that I give to the owner is that he did try hard on the marketing side with his own brand of BBQ – after Gordon Ramsay recommended it – just like the Fenwick Arms had their go at gravy, in the vastly superior UK version of Kitchen Nightmares.

It has been confirmed that the top rating show Hell’s Kitchen will be returning to television screens (not to mention youtube and torrent sites for all of us addicted overseas viewers!) in January of 2009.
According to the Fox website, Season 5 of Hell’s Kitchen will air Thursday January 29 at 9pm / 8pm Central Time
This show was apparently filmed right after the fourth season, and will air despite claims by some news outlets that reported shooting had been cancelled or postponed.
Casting for seasons 6 and 7 were held throughout the United States in October of this year and we can possibly expect to see another by the end of the year along with a new Kitchen Nightmares UK, Kitchen Nightmares USA and a new show called Man Camp.
Let’s hope that Gordon isn’t being overexposed (no pun intended!)

Two weeks ago, if anyone had asked you, what first comes to mind when I mention the name ‘Gordon Ramsay”, most people would say great cooking and swearing – and not necessarily in that order! (This may now have changed thanks to Sarah Symonds and her claims).
While Gordon has copped a spray from many a do-gooder (especially in Australia) for his ‘choice phrases of encouragement’, no one would doubt that his colourful language and intensity have become a large part of his public persona. This has become even more obvious as advertisers are now using it as part of their marketing campaigns.
This first picture I saw on the back of a bus in Sydney – and I only had to run half a block in order to snap it with my mobile phone. It seems the publishers of his latest cookbook Gordon Ramsay – Cooking for Friends have embraced some of Gordon’s signature phrases (or maybe just jumped on the bandwagon!).
The second is an ad that is currently running on the Lifestyle channel, which in Australia, plays many of Gordon’s shows – currently the latest season of Hells Kitchen USA.

It seems that the Gordon Ramsay Brand is pushing on with the ‘family theme’ as evidenced by the latest ad featuring the entire family. This is despite some ‘experts’ claiming that the allegations made by Sarah Symonds (and now other women) would destroy his wholesome image.
This latest campaign (which we would assume was recorded before the scandal) features Gordon and Family around a Christmas tree, stating their Christmas shopping list. The full 30 second ad appears on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5GohC-GpL4), on the ‘Taste of Christmas’ account page.
More information on the live cooking event, being held in London on December 4-7 can be found at www.tasteofchristmas.com
It seems that there is still nothing official from the Gordon Ramsay Camp on the scandal, short of the soundbites taken from various other live cooking performances, including the Gordon Ramsay: Cookalong live television show. The Story According to Gordon (Ramsay) – Well, sort of …. (http://www.theplonkerclub.com/wordpress/9/the-story-according-to-gordon-ramsay-%e2%80%93-well-sort-of-%e2%80%a6/) summarises the best of ‘unofficial’ response!
