Gordon Ramsay’s Masterchef Casting Starts this Month

Masterchef starring Gordon Ramsay is now into full swing and in the next few weeks, they will be auditioning amateur chefs all over the US to star (well after Gordon) in the show! The show will be based on the surprise Australian format of the show with the same name!

Professional chefs are not allowed to enter and the show has been dubbed “American Idol”  for foodies and will be brought to the small screen by the producers of ‘The Biggest Loser’.

Twelve auditions will take places across where would-be contestants will be asked to appear at the auditions with a prepared dish and thenplate the dish for the judges within five minutes. No doubt quality of the dish and ‘appropriate characters’  will weigh in the decisions of who makes it to the next level!

A copy of the application form can be found here.

Why I Hate Kitchen Nightmares USA – but I still watch it!

Author: Gordon Ramsay Unofficial Fansite  //  Category: Main Content

I came across this blog from 2007 describing what goes on and how bad the editing is.
Start from this first post – http://njmg.typepad.com/foodblog/2007/11/live-from-cam-4.html then to follow the story, click on the link at the top of the page – Live from Campania Block 2 and so on until then end.

Here is their part of their summary, which highlights the shortcomingsof this show for me

“SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT:
IT’S ALL IN THE CREDITS

Did you see the fine print in the credits? You had about two seconds.

“The producers may have provided customers at the restaurant with a financial contribution towards (sic) the cost of their meal.”

We’ll translate for you: Fox used actors, in one sense or another. The phony food critic from two weeks ago admitted she was an actor.

Also: “The footage shot in this program has been edited such that in places it is shown in a different sequence than actually shot.”

Our translation: What you saw wasn’t always authentic. But you probably already knew that. “

To be fair, Ive noticed a few of these in the British version, but no where near as many and the stories are now where near as contrived.

Don;t worry, I’ll still be watching next season!

In short – I watch it for Gordon Ramsay and the hope that someone at Fox will wake up to themselves!
