School’s In for Gordon Ramsay

Rumours abound regarding the latest acquisition by Gordon Ramsay Holdings. This time it isn’t a new restaurant – but a place to mould (and cull) the next generation of chef! A recurrent theme of Gordon Ramsay television shows, most notably Kitchen Nightmares and Hell’s Kitchen, is education and it is well known that at times Gordon Ramsay, has been critical of the standard of training available to UK chefs.
In a move, that can only be described a s putting his money where his mouth is – the rumoured size of that extremely big mouth is ₤5 000 000 and is said to be for the amazing 18th Century Botley’s House in Surrey. This comes on the heels of the purchase of the cordon bleu school that Gordon Ramsay Holdings acquired in March of this year. The Tante Marie School of Cookery (http://www.tantemarie.co.uk) is only a few miles away from the new property, considerably less than a Gordon Ramsay marathon!
For those of you who don’t feel like making the long term commitment (actually Tante Marie has courses as short as a day), remember there is always the ‘Master Class’ at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay on Royal Hospital Road, London. The course gives you and the rest of a select group, one on one time with the chefs (not sure if it includes colourful language) in a unique hands-on three hours cooking experience. You then get to join any number of guests with the three course meal that you have just prepared, with matching wines, plus a few special extras.
