We now have some more information on the new Gordon Ramsay television show, courtesy of a representative from Optomen Television. Gordon Ramsay’s new television show is called Ramsay’s Best Restaurants and at this stage the only information that they are giving away is the entry page on the Channel 4 website that we alluded to last month and the twitter address for the new show – which is RamsaysBestRest (click for the link).
The criteria for nominating your favourite restaurant in the UK is only that the restaurant be independently owned and preferably one without awards such as Michelin stars or AA Rosettes. The judging criteria for nominess is based on quality food, quality of service, passion and pride of owners plus their ability to go above and beyond for their patrons. Restaurants should have at least two chefs, no criminal record (or charges pending) and obviously be available and agree to terms and conditions of shooting schedule (which to date hasn’t been named).

In the latest edition of ‘Restaurant Magazine’ in the UK, former right hand man Mark Sargeant is featured on the cover and talks about, among other things how he cried when telling his mentor that he was leaving Gordon Ramsay Holdings.
“Sarge” as he is affectionately called was quoted as saying “It was the hardest decision of my life, like getting divorced,” when discussing his agony over leaving the company with which he made his name after thirteen years of loyal service. He stepped down from Gordon Ramsay at Claridges early last year and then broke all ties in November, although he denies that it was on bad terms.
I’ll have to ‘go to the videotape’ but I’m fairly certain that Sarge was one of the two chefs being blasted and matched against each other one one of Gordon’s first television shows (which aired last millenium!) – Gordon Ramsay’s Boiling Point.
Gordon Ramsay appeared on the Ellen Degeneres Show on Tuesday 24th Feb and as he relayed via his Twitter account (@gordonramsay01) gave himself quite a nasty cut while demonstrating his Spicy Vegetable Stir Fry. In his Tweet Gordon said “Wow while on @TheEllenShow I sliced my finger and nail chopping an onion. haven’t done that in 10 years”.
