We all know Gordon ramsay’s love of Food Critics!!! Now he’s inviting you to become one for the next episode of the F-Word. This is quite seperate from the competition which asks people of the United Kingdom to vote for their favourite local restaurant. Originally the ‘Best Local Restaurant’ competition (which entry into allowed you to apply to be in the next episode of the F-Word being shot at  the end of this year!) was to end a few weeks ago. The deadline was extended a week, and now according to an email that I have just received from Optomen Television, has been extended again until this Sunday at midnight UK time (for for all intesnive purposes would be Greenwich Mean Time or  O UTC) – that is June 26 2009.

Anyway, here is the email from the producers of Gordon Ramsay’s hit television show – The F Word;

Would you like to dine in Gordon Ramsay’s F Word Restaurant?

To apply for a table you first need to nominate your favourite local restaurant, click here to find out how.

Nominations will remain open until midnight on Sunday 26th July.

We’re also looking for people who think they’ve got what it takes to be the next big food critic. If you think you’ve got what it takes click here.

Many thanks,

The F Word Team

The Price of Being Gordon Ramsay!

Author: Gordon Ramsay Unofficial Fansite  //  Category: gordon ramsay interviews, gordon ramsay news

The lengths that some people will go to when trying to impress people or appear to trump a celebrity. We all know that Gordon Ramsay is anal when it comes to food quality (that’s how you get three Michelin stars in one location, not mention multiple others!), so here some moron thinks that he can take advantage of the Gordon Ramsay some of us know and love from television, and question the food quality from one of his own restaurants.

I thought I’d seen it all when a female reporter from Channel Seven in Australia chased Gordon into his hotel and tried to instigate something by asking dumb questions (I’m a woman – have you got anything to say to me Gordon? in response to the circus surrounding Tracy Grimshaw). Well this one takes the cake.

Some idiot sits next to an alleged food critic who orders a well-done steak (crap detector goes wild). The alleged food critic is amazingly surpised to find that the meat is tough and rubbery. The claim is that this scene takes place in Gordon Ramsay’s Maze restaurant in London. Then the idiot presenter shows Gordon Ramsay a photo of the steak, in Australia, months later and asks for a comment, thinking he has the great chef cornered.

Gordon politely tells the guy he is a tool and explains why people don’t order well-done meat if they want to actually taste the cut they have ordered.

Well done Gordon – you kept your temper – which is precisely what this knob hoped you wouldn’t do. Amazing reporting moron – you’re a special for A Current Affair or Today Tonight – trashy, set-up reporting, pity it backfired!

Here’s the clip if you could be bothered – I won’t even link to it, then they don’t get the credit – you’ll have to copy and paste yourself.

Why I Hate Kitchen Nightmares USA – but I still watch it!

I came across this blog from 2007 describing what goes on and how bad the editing is.
Start from this first post – http://njmg.typepad.com/foodblog/2007/11/live-from-cam-4.html then to follow the story, click on the link at the top of the page – Live from Campania Block 2 and so on until then end.

Here is their part of their summary, which highlights the shortcomingsof this show for me

“SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT:
IT’S ALL IN THE CREDITS

Did you see the fine print in the credits? You had about two seconds.

“The producers may have provided customers at the restaurant with a financial contribution towards (sic) the cost of their meal.”

We’ll translate for you: Fox used actors, in one sense or another. The phony food critic from two weeks ago admitted she was an actor.

Also: “The footage shot in this program has been edited such that in places it is shown in a different sequence than actually shot.”

Our translation: What you saw wasn’t always authentic. But you probably already knew that. “

To be fair, Ive noticed a few of these in the British version, but no where near as many and the stories are now where near as contrived.

Don;t worry, I’ll still be watching next season!

In short – I watch it for Gordon Ramsay and the hope that someone at Fox will wake up to themselves!
