More Criticism of Kitchen Nightmares Format and Production

Author: Gordon Ramsay Unofficial Fansite  //  Category: gordon ramsay television, Kitchen Nightmares, Main Content

It’s no secret that I don’t like the US verison of Kitchen Nightmares – that much and now that the ‘visits’ seem to be cut down to three days in this third series – all of the goods bits have been stripped out. No more cooking lessons, looks at innovative promotional ideas and the other charms of the original UK version.

While unhappy restaurant owners aren’t anything new, here is something interesting from the owner of the restaurant which is to be featured this coming Friday – Paul Bazzini of Bazzini’s. He isn;t complaining about being mis-represented or unfairly targeted – he just wishes that he was a part of the makeover!

While he is very thankfully of the work done to secure the future of the family business but missed out on the face to face consultations we have grown to expect. He says that he spent “hours of the taping waiting off-site”, then simply led into his made-over kitchen to start service.

Part of the fun for me is watching Gordon teach the chefs, create recipes, work with kitchen staff etc but here is seems it is even artificial than I ever thought. As Bazzini said “you have no interaction with Ramsay at all. He comes with a very big machine of assistants and helpers. The only time that I ever spent any time with him was on camera.”

Very disappointing! Get the full story at http://theridgewoodblog.blogspot.com/2010/02/run-for-your-life-chef-gordon-ramsay.html

I’ll still watch the show, but remember it for what it used to be!

New Recipe Book – Gordon Ramsay’s Great Escape: 100 of My Favourite Indian Recipes

Author: Gordon Ramsay Unofficial Fansite  //  Category: gordon ramsay cookbooks

In his new Channel 4 series TV chef Gordon Ramsay embarks on a culinary journey around India, discovering the breadth and depth of cooking of the country. His new cookbook is packed with the best recipes from his travels, showing you how to cook authentic dishes that are bursting with flavour. Three-star chef Gordon Ramsay’s favourite food is one that he shares with a lot of Britain – curry. But, until now, he’s never been to India see how the real thing is cooked.

Accompanied by a Channel 4 film crew, Gordon takes the culinary trip of a lifetime to discover real Indian cuisine and share this collection of over 100 of his favourite Indian dishes. As you’d expect from a Michelin-starred chef, Gordon brings his eye for perfection and ability to judge flavours perfectly to his exploration of Indian food and shows us how to cook authentic, mouth-watering dishes from all over this huge and varied country. He visits Kerala deep in the South of India to bring us spicy, coconut-based curries and travels to colourful Rajasthan to learn about the creamy, flavourful dishes of the North. Along the way Gordon experiences the hugely different flavours and spices from the different regions and absorbs local cooking styles and traditions.

Throughout his culinary journey, Gordon selects the best of the vast array of Indian spices, now readily available in British supermarkets. He shows us how to use these authentically to produce a beautifully flavoured Indian dish. Gordon Ramsay’s Great Escape includes over 100 recipes in the following sections: Everyday, Entertaining, Quick Lunches and Healthy Dishes. Once Gordon shows you how easy it is to put together authentic Indian dishes, you’ll never look back.

Gordon Ramsay’s Great Escape is supposed to be released at the end of August – although neither Amazon UK or USA have a picture of the cover (which is strange since Gordond next three books are up with covers – even those released at the end of 2010!). We’ve contacted the publishers, Harper Collins, and will pass on any information as soon as we hear anything!

Gordon Ramsay Cookalong Live USA a Goer

Author: Gordon Ramsay Unofficial Fansite  //  Category: gordon ramsay television

It has been confirmed that Gordon Ramsay’s popular Cookalong Live television show, will be coming to US audiences this year, December in fact, according to a report in Australian newspaper the Herald Sun.

The setup of the very popular UK show is simple; viewers cook live with Gordon Ramsay having pre-bought and prepared ingredients as instructed via the internet. In an effort to get more people to cook at home, the wanna-be chefs invite friends around for a dinner party with their Head Chef Gordon Ramsay barking orders at them via the television. A number of viewers also have cameras in their house following their progress as Gordon and his celebrity come sous chef prepare for the live audience and guests and regularly cross over to see how poorly they compare!

The show is brilliant to watch but definitely less enjoyable for the chef in each home as they desperately try to keep up with Gordon Ramsay’s hectic pace. In the UK the shows were an hour, so with this one-off two hour show, the pace should be a little more relaxed – although it may allow the chef and guests to get more drunk in the process!

For a taste of what to expect, here is a sample of what was on the menu for the last series of Gordon Ramsay’s Cookalong Live UK.

In a demonstration of how professional and passionate Gordon Ramsay is about this show and his effort to get Britain cooking at home again (which at first sounds counter intuative for a man who owns a bunch of restaurants) episode number four was shot days after the infamous claims of him having an affair with serial offender Sarah Symonds. As seen in the video, Gordon at the top of the show merely mentions that it has been a tough week and continues on with the same amazing energy and zest.

Gordon Ramsay is the man – look out American wannabe home chefs (and Fox censors) Gordon Ramsay is coming your way in December 2009!
